Memorial

On Sunday 29th April 2012, we  unveiled two plaques to the memory of the people who died in the crash of De havilland Flamingo R2764 in Great Ouseburn.  The plaques consisting of one in english sponsored by Great Ouseburn Parish Council and the other in Russian Cyrillic text sponsored by the Russian Embassy have been erected outside Vine House, Main Street, Great Ouseburn during the Village Spring Festival.

Flamingo Plane Crash, Memorial Event

14:00               Assemble at St Mary’s Church War Memorial for a memorial service.

14:10               Reading of the names “We will Remember them”, Last Post/silence/ Reveille   

14:15               Laying of Wreaths/flowers

14:25               All walk to Vine House, while Aviamarsh is played by Nigel Robertshaw.

14:30               Unveiling of the Plaques jointly by Russian Embassy & RAF representatives 

14:45               Planting of an Oak and Birch tree by the Russian Embassy families of dead. 

15:00               Presentation on the crash by Archaeologist Kevin Cale at Vine House.

16:00               Presentation on the crash by Archaeologist Kevin Cale at Vine House.
