The crash involved three planes

The one  which crashed at Gt Ouseburn, and two of which were involved indirectly.

  1. ‘The Lady of Castledown’ was the name of De Havilland Flamingo R2674 which crashed with the loss of all on board on 30th April 1942.
  2. R2674’s sister plane ‘The Lady of Hendon’ (R2675) performed the journey from RAF Tealing to RAF Hendon on 29th April 1942
  3. The Petlyakov ‘PE-8’ performed the leg of the journey from Moscow to RAF Tealing
